Civil and Structural Engineer
Engineering across offshore structures, civil infrastructure, structural analysis and software development.
01 / Overview
My professional career spans more than four decades of civil and structural engineering, encompassing offshore structures, civil infrastructure, structural analysis and engineering software development.
Having worked with engineering organisations in France and Indonesia, I have contributed to projects ranging from concrete gravity dams and underground structures to major offshore platforms and floating production facilities.
My experience also includes the development of structural analysis software, technical research, engineering reviews and the mentoring of engineering teams.
02 / Professional experience
Structural design and analysis of offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, FPSOs and associated facilities. Experience includes in-service and pre-service analyses, fatigue, seismic assessment and installation engineering.
Experience in concrete gravity dams, underground structures, foundations and building structures, including engineering in seismic environments.
Linear and nonlinear structural analysis, finite element modelling, dynamic analysis, fatigue assessment, seismic engineering and specialised engineering methodologies.
Development of structural analysis software and specialised computational tools, including FASTRUDL, NLSA and spectral fatigue analysis modules.

Offshore gas-field development involving gathering and testing satellites, low-pressure compression platforms, manifold facilities and associated structures.
Structural engineering of FPSO topsides, including analyses of critical connections, module jacking and lifting operations.
Detailed engineering of a large float-over production platform deck, including in-place and load-out analyses.
Detailed engineering and in-service and pre-service structural analyses of a six-leg production platform.
Reanalysis of existing drilling and production platforms, including preparation of design briefs and project-specific software tools.
Conceptual engineering of concrete gravity dams and associated civil engineering works.

Alongside project engineering, my professional experience includes research into soil–structure interaction, structural dynamics and the development of computational tools for engineering analysis.
